The not-real Stephen Colbert returned to the air last night to comment on the Republican Convention.

That is totally strange. Life imitates fiction. The writer connected a charismatic character named Trump campaigning for building a wall to protect citizens.

Of course that's where the similarity ends but it is still strange as hell.

The cable network this is from is called Heroes & Icons. We watch it often. They are showing all 5 Star Trek shows every night. They're also showing a lot of forgotten westerns like Trackdown. I grew up on westerns. Gunsmoke is the greatest western ever made.

Speaking of forgotten shows do you remember Kolchak: Night Stalker? It just started on GetTV. It's fro 1974 and it was Chris Carter's inspiration for The X-Files. In fact he use many of the Kolchak episodes as the basis of X-Files episodes. The first Kolchak episode from 1974 was on las Suday night. It was about Jack the Ripper and The X-Files re-made that episode. Just FYI in case anyone is interested.

At first sight this seems like breathtaking prescience. On closer inspection the writer of this cowboy show is not predicting the future at all, he is refering to current affairs of the time. A few years previous to the filming of this show, in 1954, there was a well reported legal action against Fred Trump, Donalds father. He was using millions of dollars of tax payers money to build public housing, using it in a dishonest way, overcharging and running the operation is such a convoluted way that it was impossible for the state to follow how it's money was vanishing. Today this type of fraud is mainstream, back in 1954 it was new and the law could not quite pin enough on Fred to send him to the jail where he belonged. So you can see why the name Trump is an obvious choice for a writer to use to indicate a slippery conman.
The actor in the show looks chosen to have a good resemblence to the real life fraud in the picture.

The Netherlands welcomes Trump in his own words

The whole world was watching for the inauguration of the 45th president of the United States: Donald J. Trump. Because we realize it's better for us to get along, we decided to introduce our tiny country to him. In a way that will probably appeal to him the most.
